Surface Evolution Lighting is the outdoor lighting division of Surface Evolution LLC, based in Des Moines, Iowa (“Surface Evolution,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect through this website, why, and the choices you have.

01Information we collect

Information you give us

• Property address — so we know which home the design is for and whether it is in our service area.
• A daytime photo of your home — the image we use to create your “after dark” render.
• Mobile phone number — so we can text you the finished render and answer questions.
• Anything else you choose to tell us by text, phone or email.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical data when a page is requested — IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and the time. We use this for security and to keep the site working. We also use the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.), which sets cookies and tells Meta which pages were viewed and when a render request is submitted, so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram advertising and show our ads to people who have visited this site. We do not send Meta your address, your photo or your phone number. You can control ad personalization in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings, at optout.aboutads.info, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

02How we use your information

• To create and deliver the night render you asked for.
• To reply to you, schedule a site walk, and prepare a lighting design and proposal.
• To keep records of our customer relationships and the work we perform.
• To protect the site against abuse and to comply with the law.

We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.

03Your photo

The photo you upload is used to prepare your render. To do that, it may be processed by third-party image-rendering and AI software providers acting on our behalf, under terms that limit their use of it to providing that service to us.

We will not publish your photo, your render or your address in our marketing, portfolio or social media without your permission. Please only upload photos of a property you own or have permission to photograph, and avoid images in which people or license plates are identifiable.

04Text messaging (SMS)

When you give us your mobile number through the “See Your Home After Dark” form, you agree to receive text messages from Surface Evolution Lighting about your render request and your lighting project.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. The exclusions above do not limit sharing with the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf.

05How we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers who work for us — website hosting (Netlify), our customer-relationship and messaging system, web-font delivery (Google Fonts), advertising measurement (Meta Pixel), and the image-rendering tools described above. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Installers and trade partners, only when needed to carry out a project you have approved.
• Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.
• A successor business if Surface Evolution is merged, acquired or sold, subject to this policy.

06How long we keep it

If you do not become a customer, we delete your photo and render request within 12 months of your last contact with us, or sooner if you ask. If you do become a customer, we keep project records for as long as needed to service your system — including lifetime adjustment visits — and to meet tax, warranty and legal obligations.

07Your choices and rights

• Opt out of texts — reply STOP to any message.
• Access, correct or delete your information — email us at the address below and we will respond within 45 days.
• Iowa residents and residents of other states with consumer-privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to confirm whether we process their data, obtain a copy, request deletion and appeal a decision. We honor these requests regardless of where in the United States you live, and we will not discriminate against you for making one.

08Security

This site is served over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to customer records is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we will notify you as required by law if a breach affects your information.

09Children

This site is intended for homeowners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10Other websites

Our site may link to other websites, including other Surface Evolution divisions. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page before they take effect.
